Overwhelming Sadness

On Friday we got a call from the school's principal. One of Cassie and Marea's classmates died Friday afternoon in an unfortunate accident. She was playing in the snow hills on the school grounds (where the plows pile the snow from the parking lots) and got stuck head first in a tunnel that had been dug. She was unable to get out and the friend who was with her couldn't get her out either. By the time help arrived, it was too late.

Cassie and Marea are doing pretty well with the news. I am sure once they return to school (no school today because of the blizzard and no school tomorrow because of the funeral) things will be a little more realistic. We have talked with them and hopefully they have worked through a lot of what they need to. It has certainly helped me appreciate my kids much more and I have been holding them a little tighter.

Tuesday is the funeral for this little girl. I cannot imagine the pain the family must be in right now. Please say a prayer for them that they will make it through this time and that they will be comforted by the fact that their daughter is now in heaven.

how overwhelming to even contemplate. It brings to rememberance what a blessing our children really are.

This makes me so terribly sad. My thoughts are with her family and your girls. That's a horrible thing to grasp as an adult, let alone as a child.
